Born in England into a creative family, Jennifer Copley-May has been passionate about all forms of art since early childhood. As an adult she studied botanic illustration and continued to develop her artistic talents in several other areas: portraiture, landscapes, animal portraits and more recently, abstracts, graphics and illustrative work.
Jennifer is at ease working in most media: pencil, ink, watercolours, oil, clay and even embroidery. She has also created large scale mosaic works for swimming pools and a series of back drops for a dance hall musical. Jennifer has always encouraged people of all ages who think they are not creative and continues to run occasional courses for children, beginners and accomplished artists, focusing on various aspects of the arts. For her, creativity touches everyone and is within everyone’s grasp.
A member of The Association of Illustrators, her graphic designs have been commissioned by theatre companies, gardening societies, exhibition and event promoters, card printers and publishers. Her commercial work for publishers has included Blackbird Digital Books’ original logo and our own collection of multi-coloured armadillos as featured in our logo. Other projects include the cover drawing for David Selzer’s poetry collection: A Jar of Sticklebacks.
